Family Asthma Act

Introduced by Representative McCarthy and Senator Lautenberg in the 112th Congress, the Family Asthma Act (H.R. 6608, S. 3641) seeks to improve symptom prevention, treatment, and management of childhood asthma by encouraging partnerships at the federal, state, and local levels. These partnerships will help create state asthma plans to reduce the burden of asthma; strengthen public education on asthma symptom prevention and management; bolster data collection to help target guidelines- and evidence-based asthma interventions; and develop recommendations about the future of asthma prevention and management efforts.

The Family Asthma Act would not only improve our understanding of how asthma impacts communities across the nation, it would provide critical information for those who suffer from asthma and their families to better manage the disease and improve their quality of life.
