Childhood Asthma Control Test

Childhood Asthma Control Test For Children Ages 4 To 11.

The childhood asthma control test is administered to children ages 4 to 11 years of age. The childhood asthma control test is used to determine if your child's current methods of controlling their asthma is effective or not. For children who are able to answer the questions on the childhood asthma control test, you should let them respond on their own. Younger children may need help selecting their answers. The childhood asthma control test will ask the child how their asthma is at the time of test. The childhood asthma control test will also ask whether asthma is a problem for them when they are running, playing, or walking. Your child will also be asked if their asthma bothers them while they are sleeping and do they cough a lot.

The second part of the childhood asthma control test should be completed by the parent. This part of the childhood asthma control test will focus on your child's asthma for the last four weeks. The questions for the parents will focus on symptoms you have noticed your child experiencing. The childhood asthma control test will ask parents whether they noticed any daytime symptoms of asthma during the last four weeks. If so, this may be an indication that the child may need another form of asthma control. Parents will also be asked about the child's sleep habits and whether they are affected by the asthma.

At the end of the childhood asthma control test, your child will be given a score. A score obtained under a certain number means that a child may be in need of better treatment to control their asthma symptoms. Your child's doctor may be able to prescribe a medication to control the inflammation that is usually the source of asthma attacks. There are both long-term and short-term medications that are available to treat asthma for your child.
